OLT 590 – Evalation

Mini-Interview Program Evaluation Report

  • Choose a program you want to evaluate. The program you evaluate can be a learning or change/development-oriented program, curriculum/certificate, process, or educational product – please avoid evaluating a course you teach, one does not have stakeholders other than the instructor and students. The more your project meets the following criteria, it will work well for the final project:
    • One that has existed for a while and is still ongoing. A program run within an organization/institution or supported by an agency.
    • One that you have some knowledge or experience (you don’t have to be the knowledge expert. You will play the role of an evaluator).
    • Has someone in charge other than you, who has an in-depth knowledge of the program, can influence the program, and makes key decisions. A leader/manager/supervisor of the program will be better. You have access to that person. * The final project requires you to interview a key informant from the program in week 5 or 6. If this person is available and able to answer your questions at that time, it would be great.
    • Has an identifiable number (2~4) of parties or key stakeholders (examples are designers/developers, staff members, service/product recipients/consumers, organizational leaders, policymakers, community people, etc – data collection from them won’t be required from the project due to time constraints). If you have easy access to the person in charge, you can ask who the stakeholders (groups) are.
  • Choose one best available informant who meets some of the above criteria, secure access via F2F, phone, or email, and ask the following questions. If not all questions can be asked or answered, that’s fine. This person doesn’t have to be the same person who will answer your interview questions later (if same, great).

Final Report Outline – length suggestion is a guide (can be single or double spaced), not a rule. Focus more on substance, good flow/organization, and concise/clear writing. No references or APA writing is necessary.

  • Introduction (about 2 pages) – Description of the organization, program/process/product evaluated, and evaluation rationale
  • Audience(s) and Purpose (about 1 page)
  • Key (Evaluation) Questions (about 1~2 pages)
  • Evaluation Design (about 1 page)
  • Data Collection and Analysis (about 1~2 pages)
  • Analysis of Interview & Conclusion (about 2 pages)

OLT 595 – Research Methodology

Project Title

By the end of the semester, you will be required to submit a Research Proposal for the course. The purpose of the assignment is to provide you an opportunity to learn to develop a research proposal by applying the information that you will learn in this course. You are only expected to write a proposal, not to conduct the study or collect data for the study.

Please revisit your previous work related to building up your research proposal. Put them together into a coherent research proposal. As you combine sections, you will feel the need to enhance the flow and clarity among different sections. All module milestones asked you to complete designated sections of the research proposal template.

In putting all things together, incorporate feedback from the instructor and peers. Work will be evaluated based on the rubric below. Throughout the course, you must have done almost everything to create a solid research proposal. This final assignment is to help you revisit your previous work, and connect all pieces together. Please note that the method section must use the future tense (rather than the past tense) – because it is a proposal.

When you work on your final research proposal assignment, please note that you need to follow APA 7th edition guidelines, Times New Roman font size 12 with double-spaced. The final research proposal may contain approximately 7 to 15 pages long excluding title and references. However, page number would not be the most important, quality of your research proposal is more important than the quantity of the paper.
